Visabeira began its activity in 1980, within the sectors of Telecommunications and Electricity, providing network engineering services, including production, installation, management and maintenance of infrastructures.

The company quickly became a market leader and has held this position throughout the last three decades.

In 1989 the Holding Grupo Visabeira SGPS, SA was created as a result of the exponential growth and success of the Telecommunications and Energy business activities, and also due to the corporate diversification into other sectors which enhanced the scope of services provided.

Due to its dimension and to the diversity of its business areas, in 2001 the Grupo Visabeira organised its universe of more than 50 companies into five sub-holdings: Visabeira Telecomunicações e Construção SGPS, SA, Visabeira Indústria SGPS, SA, Visabeira Turismo SGPS, SA, Visabeira Imobiliária SGPS, SA and Visabeira Serviços SGPS, SA, structuring each business area. 

In 2008, the Grupo Visabeira reorganized its business areas in order to enlarge it and obtain more flexibility. For such, it centered in its sub-holding Visabeira Telecomunicações e Construção SGPS, SA all the companies which would work direct or indirectly within this area. Furthermore, it changed its name into Visabeira Global SGPS, SA, in order to enhance its position as a multinational and global company.

Visabeira Global SGPS, SA is thus organised into four different business areas, having implemented an organisation model which combines centralising business support departments, such as Logistics, Marketing, Financial, Human Resources, with decentralising and specialising the operational and commercial areas of the different domains:

- Telecommunications (network engineering and cable TV operations)

- Energy (production, distribution and services)

- Technology (development, integration, and information and communication systems management)

- Construction (project development, construction, recovery and buildings maintenance and infrastructure)

Always on the cutting edge of technology, Visabeira Global develops its activity in 10 countries as one of main partners for many of the main global operators.

This is due not only to its skills, demonstrated throughout several business activities, but also to its capability to integrate different specialties.

In line with its slogan “The World in Motion,” Visabeira Global will continue its ambitious expansion process, set in the internationalisation of its four business areas, and undertaking increasingly ambitious challenges.
